March 2020 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Family,

I have been going through some old files that have been packed away for some years and I found some sayings that I had written down over the years. And I want to share them with you:

A.W. Tozer said, “Church is politely bored with God, you expect me to entertain you and keep your interest and not to talk of God because it doesn't interest you, so you want me to use other techniques.”

Then Chuck Colson is quoted as saying, "We live in a 'Hot Tub Religion' era, whatever makes people feel good the church does it. Whatever people want we include in church."

Think of this as we look into the future and where God is leading us as a church. What, why and how do we reach out to the world around us.

Dr. Dennis Kinlaw said "The only way God can get to you was through Jesus and the only way Jesus can get to the world is through you." So think of all the ways that God wants to use you as a witness to the world outside the church.

Think of this phrase spoken by A.B. Simpson, as you meditate on being useful, "God will never judge me in that day on what I don't do but on what I will not let Him do through me." Dr. Dennis Kinlaw also says, "Life for God is other- oriented. Jesus is first on the list, others second and yourself is last."

I want to close with this thought that is very thought provoking, "If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?"

Take time and think on each of these statements that have been used over the years within the Christian Circles. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you about your commitment to the Church and your walk with God and Jesus Christ.

Hope to see you each Sunday during this Lenten season 2020.

Love in Christ,

Bro. Larry
